Case Study: Worthington Industries

Worthington Industries – a global company that processes steel for many industries, including automotive, construction, hardware, and aerospace with sales of more than $2 billion annually.

The Challenge

Worthington Industries has a progressive Management Training Program for its most promising young leaders.

These leaders experience a rigorous 7-month program that better prepares them for leadership. However, the participants needed additional assistance in 2 areas: thinking on their feet in sudden, challenging situations and preparing for their final program presentation to Worthington’s upper-level management.

The ImprovEdge Solution

ImprovEdge created a workshop that is now a consistent part of the Management Training Program for Worthington Industries.

Participants experience a set of activities that challenge them to listen to sudden changes and react in a positive way.

They must consider and discuss several difficult aspects of being a leader. For their final projects, they are re-mixed into groups, and must present to a tough “stand-in” executive board. In a safe environment, this role play provides crucial practice in presenting to demanding internal management as well as clients. The participants receive detailed feedback, and have the opportunity to polish and perfect their work in advance of the final presentation.

How The Solution Can Work For You

Leaders have to work to stay ahead and remain sharp.

ImprovEdge creates a Leadership Experience that allows participants to discuss and interact in mind-stretching ways. They also experience tough role plays in the safety of a workshop, leaving better prepared to handle critical situations in real life. ImprovEdge – stretch your Big Picture thinkers.
